This 1965 Ford Mustang K-code Fastback, one of fewer than 1% of 1965 Mustangs built with the 271-horsepower high-performance 289ci V8, was sold new at Millard Reeves Ford in Georgia and has been built into a GT-350 tribute by Salter's Mustangs of Pace, Florida. Finished in Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue stripes over a black interior, the Dearborn-built Fastback wears a block casting of C5AE-6015-A, 4L25, and date stamping of 4M14R, now bored to 293ci and equipped with a Shelby intake manifold, ported and polished 1965 heads with hardened valve seats, a Competition Cam, Holley 600 double-pumper, roller rockers, and Shelby valve cover breathers. The rebuilt Toploader four-speed is matched to a Hurst Competition Plus shifter, a Hayes competition clutch, and a Ford 9-inch rear with a 3.50:1 Auburn limited-slip differential. Front disc brakes with an adjustable proportioning valve are fitted. The body shows some flaws in the paint indicative of an older restoration. The odometer shows 22,872 miles, and total mileage is unknown; the speedometer was repaired and reset to zero under prior ownership with 78,000 miles documented at the time of reset. A FOMOCO Certificate of Origin and documentation extending to the original 1965 sale are included. The selling dealer acquired the car in Wichita, Kansas, in 2026.
